Work Experience Team Leader

16 hours per week to 31st December 2010

Expressions of interest are invited from motivated and enthusiastic people for the position of Work Experience Team Leader based at Milang Old School House Community Centre.

The Work Experience Team Leader will be responsible for managing a team of up to 10 work experience participants who are registered in a Job Skills Australia program.

The successful applicant will utilise community development principles and sound natural resource management practices to enable local people to gain experience in natural resource management and community projects around Lake Alexandrina.

The objective of the position is to;

• Engage team members in learning new skills and providing on-going coaching of team members, implementing a mix of practical and conceptual on-site training.
• Provide on-site supervision of Participants, particularly in line with the relevant industry standards of the activity that the Participants are undertaking.
• Ensure the general welfare and safety of participants, including strict adherence to OH&S policies and procedures.
• Making logistical arrangements for the efficient completion of project activities, which may include project scheduling, tool selection and site maps, details of job specification.
• Ensuring the care, maintenance and safe operation of vehicles, trailers, tools and equipment.
• At all times to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in accordance with the ‘Employment Services Standard – Employment Services Deed 2009-2012’

The successful applicant must be committed to community development principles and have previous experience in natural resource or community project management in a community setting.

Movie day vouchers are available from MOSHCC and Alexandrina Council Offices in Goolwa and Strathalbyn.

To receive your movie voucher volunteers will be asked to fill in a short survey regarding your volunteering.

This survey is incredibly valuable in forwarding volunteer support in the Hills.

The Volunteer Movie day is proudly supported by: Hills Volunteering and Adelaide Hills Council, Alexandrina Council and the District Council of Mount Barker in partnership with Wallis Cinema Mount Barker.

Expressions of interest are invited from motivated and enthusiastic people for the position of Lakes Hub Coordinator.  This position is based at Milang but has the responsibility to support the Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert communities.

The successful applicant will utilise community development principles and sound natural resource management practices to establish the Lakes Hub, providing community engagement and capacity building to support the Lower Lakes Bioremediation and Revegetation Project.

The objective of the position is to;

• Establish a trusted, inclusive focal point in the community (the Lakes Hub), which provides comprehensive information and supports community engagement in the planning, science, on ground works and learnings of the Lower Lakes Bioremediation and Revegetation Project
• Provide executive support to a project management committee to provide community drive and ownership of the project.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive, community developed and owned community engagement strategy to involve local communities in managing the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth.
• Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate the Lakes Hub project as outlined in the funding agreement “Community Engagement in Lower Lakes Planning and Management” between the Milang Progress Association Inc and the State Government.
