Call for Expressions of Interest

LAKES HUB COMMUNITY NURSERY PROJECT OFFICER

 

Full time 38 hours to 31st March 2010

 

 

Expressions of interest are invited from motivated and enthusiastic people for the position of Lakes Hub Community Nursery Project Officer based at Milang but having responsibilities to support the Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert communities.

The successful applicant will utilise community development principles and sound natural resource/horticultural management practices to encourage the establishment or expansion of community nurseries in the Lakes region.  This will support the planting requirements of the Lower Lakes Bioremediation and Revegetation Project and provide community engagement and capacity building.

 

The objective of the position is to;

·    Develop and utilize community networks to develop an alliance of community growers

·    Assist community groups and micro businesses to implement community propagation/nursery projects.

·    Provide support to landholders and community in seed collection and storage, nursery development, remediation and monitoring activities.

·    Coordinate, implement and evaluate the Community Nursery program as outlined in the funding agreement between the Milang Progress Association Inc and the State Government.

 

The successful applicant must be committed to community development principles and have previous experience in natural resource/horticultural project management in a community setting.

This project is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the South Australian Government Department for Environment and Heritage, Lower Lakes Bioremediation and Revegetation Project.
