Welcome to Milang and District Community Care (MDCC).  We are managed by the Milang and District Community Association, Inc. to provide support services to our local residents.  The MDCC Program is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) which in turn is  funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health.

Aim

To provide entry-level support services (low intensity on a short-term or ongoing basis, or higher level intensity services delivered on a short-term or episodic basis).

Target Groups

  • Frail, older people (65 and over, or 50 and over for ATSI) who need assistance with daily activities to enhance their independence
  • Frail, older people (65 and over, or 50 and over for ATSI) may access direct or planned respite services to allow their regular carers to take a break from their caring duties
  • People aged 50 years and over on a low income who are homeless or at risk of homelessness as a result of experiencing housing stress or not having secure accommodation
  • Grant recipients funded under the CHSP and their service delivery client base

In-Home Support

Domestic Assistance cleaning, laundry, unaccompanied shopping, bill paying, assistance with meal preparation.  Annual limits apply to this high demand service.

Personal Care (short term) and may include assistance bathing, dressing, medication management e.g. during an illness or after hospitalisation

Social Support Services

Transport to medical and social appointments with a volunteer driver in our Community Car

Social Support accompanied shopping, bill paying, medical and social support

Centre-Based Social Activities Milang Old School House Community Centre offers a range of social activities such as Friday Feast;  Keep Fit; Women’s and Men’s social outings, Yoga; Mah Jong and many other activities.

Home Maintenance

Home Maintenance Service can provide assistance with a range of minor home maintenance tasks to ensure your home environment is safe.

Work performed must be of an essential nature and may include: grass cutting, gutter cleaning, replacing washers and taps, fuses and light globes, and smoke alarm batteries.  Annual limits apply to this high-demand service.
